Off road and on road

Fabulous weather the past few days has certainly been taken advantage of - And I don't just mean by slaving over a hot BBQ or mowing the lawn. In the interests of business development, Friday morning saw me at the top of Devils Dyke with my mountain bike (yes I do have one) for an off road challenge round the South Downs with around 25 lawyers and bankers (there is a downside to everything in life!). My bike at 15 years old, well travelled in several African countries and having no front suspension, was easily the least valuable. Being a Trek though it is virtually unbreakable and that was needed for around 20 miles of surprisingly demanding ups and downs through the beautiful South Downs near Brighton. The views were spectacular and the BBQ and beers afterwards made it all worthwhile. It was certainly better than being stuck in the office all day. Last night after a tasty Moussaka lovingly prepared by my Jamie bloody Oliver obsessed better half, it was back to road work with a lovely ride out through Haywards Heath and Ardingly. The temperature was just right, having cooled down a bit from the scorching lunchtime. Not sure the weather will last though. Still later in the week it is down to France!
