Extreme weather

Down in Mirepoix for a quick weekend visit, to check that the old place was still standing - pleased to say that all is in order, with not too much cleaning or gardening needed. The area is in the grip of a vicious cold snap with lots of snow flurries and a maximum temperature today of minus 2 c. There was also an evil wind, so that the chill factor meant that it was more like minus 8 c. Being the mad dog I am I deceided I desparately needed a blast of fresh air and ventured out, kitted up as warmly as possible - Not warm enough as within 15 minutes my face and jaw ached from the cold, my hands were numb and my chest felt like an ice block. After an hour or so I had had enough and headed back to the sanctury of home. By then I could not feel my feet at all and it took a good 30 minutes before normailty was restored. The forecast for tomorrow is even worse and so my plans of a longer ride in the Foix area are now looking like lunacy. And to think last week it was a balmy 15 c down here!
